by Ahyoka Lee
Properly storing tea is essential if you want to enjoy your tea over extended periods of time.
Light, heat & moisture deteriorate the quality of dried herbs. Many people make the mistake of storing their herbs out on a sunny windowsill, on top of a stove or moist areas where it can quickly looses it’s quality & freshness.
Refrain from using glass jars & plastic containers. Instead, store them in air tight containers made of ceramic or colored/dark tins and keep it in cool, dark places such as a cupboard or pantry to ensure they will be protected from light, heat &/or moisture which helps conserve their flavors & therapeutic properties.
Most importantly, don’t forget to label your storage containers. In six months, it may be difficult to differentiate spearmint from peppermint or catnip from oregano 🌿
