Tea bags vs Sachets
by Ahyoka Lee
Tea bags were accidentally founded in 1904 by a tea & coffee merchant named Thomas Sullivan. In his attempt to cut cost, he sent loose tea in small-hand sewn silk pouches instead of costly tins. Confused with the new appearance, his clients threw the entire packaging into the hot water.
Tattle Tea
Most tea companies use pyramid bags for a more fancy look. However, it’s content is filled with “fannings” —- grainy particles of finely broken down ( often of low quality) tea leaves which contain lower antioxidants.
Not only does the tea bag contain more “dust” rather than actual TEA itself but these tiny & sometimes toxic bags (most tea bags are made with plastic & contain chemicals) —- also prevent proper circulation required to pull out tea flavors.
